Happy Friday, friends. Today, I am appreciating lessons from Valerie Ramsey.
Valerie Ramsey was one of the first women I read, admired, and spoke with in the early days of my blog and I learned many lessons from her.
Recently, I mentioned in a post that I drink a large glass of water first thing every morning.
I was reminded that I learned this from Valerie Ramsey, so I decided to check in on her after many years of little contact.
Sadly, she had passed on January 9, 2024 at the age of 84.
Though this is long overdue, today, I find myself remembering and appreciating lessons from Valerie Ramsey.
APPRECIATING LESSONS FROM VALERIE RAMSEY: INSPIRATION

Though Valerie was gorgeous, it was not her outward appearance that inspired me the most.
I met her just as I was turning 60, and she encouraged me that this could be the best time of life…she was optimistic, joyful, strong, and resilient.
After raising 6 children, Valerie took a Public Relations Position at the well known golf resort, Pebble Beach.
Little did she know, that this one step would open a world to modeling and public speaking that she had no idea in the beginning would happen.

She said to me in a phone conversation to pinpoint my dreams and go for them no matter my age.
“Pamela, we allow age to limit us and that is wrong. Set goals, make a plan and pursue them.”

Valerie inspired me to keep this blog going as long as I wanted to. I had two long phone talks with her and they were wonderful.
She had a sweet joyful spirit and showed so much care for other women. Each time we talked, they were lengthy conversations.
APPRECIATING LESSONS FROM VALERIE RAMSEY: STRESS

Valerie was on my mind this week for another reason.
I was pondering why I have been sick so much since moving…it is not like me to be ill this often.
That was when I remembered Valerie’s second book, Creating What’s Next Gracefully, where she writes much about the harm of stress.
Quotes from Valerie:
- According to the American Institute of Stress, 90% of all health problems are related to stress.
- Research confirms that our thoughts and emotions have a dynamic effect on our health and vitality.
- Spa treatments and therapeutic massage can activate the body’s natural reparative processes, reduce stress and help to achieve a balanced, healthier life. (She was the first one to encourage me in this area, and I am so grateful she did)
- Scientific studies have found a strong link between the complexion and emotions. Activities we do to improve our emotional state will have the added benefits of improving the quality of our skin.
- THE IMMUNE SYSTEM AND THE BODY’S ABILITY TO HEAL QUICKLY ARE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY STRESS AND ONE’S OVERALL MIND AND BODY HEALTH.
Her wisdom, joy, vitality, hope, and determination gave me lessons to remember the rest of my life. I only regret that I could not thank her before she left this earth.
So, I encourage you that if there are women who have made a difference in your own lives, to thank them while they can hear it and know they are appreciated.
I am thankful for Valerie Ramsey.
I hope you will join me tomorrow…until then….
BE THANKFUL AND KEEP SMILING!
